Hello...
My name is Heather and I've got some skills up my sleeve that I hope that I can help you with. Looking to get out of Customer Service and into something more rewarding personally.
About

I've been learning, tinkering, and creating online since 1997. In that time I've learned different photo editing and creation software, with Photoshop being the most recent and relevant one. I also got into learning HTML and crafting websites after the community I was in kind of made you want to jump into it. I taught myself HTML through various methods of self taught, viewing source codes, as well as a book or two. I had many small projects back then, but only one that became a main one that was my largest. All but my largest project were lost to the sands of time.
Long story short, I stopped with really most things due to various reasons in the early 2000s. College, moving, all the fun things that you do when you become an adult. What I was working on felt more like a younger persons thing anyway. It wasn't until January 2022 that I realized I missed creating websites and what goes into them. I picked up photo editing and creation again much sooner though, so I had been dabbling in that again. It also made me realize that I need to change my career path. It is both exciting and scary, though.
I've definitely had a jump start on my learning this time around. I've been more up-to-date with photo editing software and it was a more catching-up on web developement. I hadn't touched it in a long time except for maybe needing a tag here or there on a forum. I've also been mearning to learn CSS for so long, that it became a great way to finally knuckle down and do so.
For jumping back into web developement, I've used several resources. freeCodeCamp specifically to get back into the swing of things as my major source. I've used other resources along the way to reinforce other areas. As freeCodeCamp updates it's cirriculum to newer things, I've been completing them as well for a more full experience. I have used other resources along the in addition to help with learning. Earning both a certification in Responsive Web Design as well as JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures.
There has been a lot to take in, but it has been a fun and exciting experience again. I know there's always more to learn, so I'm looking forward to the journey ahead. Where ever it may lead. Below, I'd like to share some of my work that I've done.
Portfolio
My portfolio is broken down into sections to showcase my experience, skill, and examples of what I have worked on, for various reasons. I will be adding more as I am able to.
Photo Editing & Creation
I've done environmental and interface design for two, as yet, unreleased games for OMC Games. All my work is done in Photoshop. The two games are Skullforge: The Hunt, still in development, as well as Penny RPG: Shadows of the Lost - A Blood City Tale, which while still in development is available on the Steam store for early access.
Assets include modification of existing pack assets, sometimes heavily, to create new pieces for the game. Prototyping has occurred for a lot of the art and interfact designs. I tend to do iterations in the files for the item I'm working on, while occassionally doing details with pencil and paper.
I do all kinds of little side personal projects as well, for fun. Keep me practicing and learning new skills and tricks in it. The background of this website is one of my little projects that inspired me for this website. Below is a small collection of things for games or small, fun personal projects.

Web Development
My portfolio pieces consist of alot of work done in CodePen, both personal and exercises I've tackled from various sources. It was a great place to be able to test my work without having to run it all locally, so everything could work without pieces here or there maybe not. I will add more pieces to places as I am able.
I did a lot of prototyping of my own personal freelance website on CodePen as well. It was my first major project coming back to web development. For designs, colors, pieces of code, it really helped me flesh out something I was more comfortable with using on my website. You can find my personal website at Rainy Day Art.
